Academic Honesty Policy
The purpose of this class is to teach you new skills in the area of English and Language Arts and to develop those skills that you already have in this area. In order for this to be accomplished effectively, we need to establish an environment of academic honesty. Cheating may benefit you in the short term, but it certainly will not effectively prepare you for a future career. Therefore, academic honesty in this class is imperative to your success. While you are in this class, I expect you to adhere to the following. If you do not adhere to the following guidelines, immediate disciplinary and academic action will be taken, including a zero on the assignment for all parties involved. Take pride in your own work, and respect the work of your classmates.

There will be no sharing of homework assignments unless otherwise instructed.

There will be no talking during a test or quiz.

There will be no copying of any other student’s work. This includes anything from homework to tests.

There will be no possessing, buying, selling, or using in any way work that is not one’s own.

There will be no use of equipment or materials during a test or other academic evaluation which has not been authorized by the teacher (notes, video or audio recorders, calculators, cell phones, or other electronic devices).

Students may not submit someone else’s work as their own. This includes Internet research papers or any Internet material that is not properly documented.

Plagiarism is not allowed. This includes direct copying and rephrasing. If you copy or rephrase, you must document it in the correct way (MLA format).

There will be no aiding or assisting others to cheat, copy, or plagiarize.
